Our core business is precision CNC milling, Wire EDM and Hole
Poppers, Multi-Slide Production and Precision Turning, with an
emphasis on rapid turnaround of your prototype work. We recognize
being competitive in the prototype machining market requires quick
turnaround of quotes and project deliverables at a high service and
quality level. IMS delivers on all those requirements.
We provide services for plating, powder coating and painting, heat treat, anodizing, laser etching/marking and grinding/honing.
What are our processes:
Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)sometimes referred to as spark machining, spark eroding, burning, die sinking or wire erosion, is a
manufacturing process whereby a desired shape is obtained using
electrical discharges (sparks). Material is removed from the
workpiece by a series of rapidly recurring current discharges thus
eroding away material using high voltage and the spark generated.
The material never actually comes in contact with the conductive
wire that the spark originates from and as such is a very low stress
inducing process with creates extremely high tolerance and high
precision cuts. See the YouTube videos for more information on this
process.
Our processes can produce medical grade finishes down to between 0.1 to 0.2 Micrometers Um or 4- 6 Micro-inches Uin.
CNC Machining is the process by which material is removed from a workpiece / material with Computer Numerical Control (CNC)
equipment that cuts away unwanted material. This can be used in
small prototype quantities or larger production based quantity work.
Machining is possible on virtually any material (see our list of
alloys/materials we work with. Parts are machined directly from your
2D or 3D CAD models.
Why select the CNC Machined Part process? When you need to hold
tight tolerance ( as tight as +/- 0.0002"), and when you MUST have
your parts in a specific material, such as plastic or metal.
CNC Machining Highlights
- Machine virtually any material
- Typical accuracy is +/- 0.001" but we
can attain as tight as +/- .0002â€Â
- Ability to hold tight tolerances
- We can attain a variety of surface
finishes
- The cost can be cheaper than even
rapid prototypes, depending on the geometry of the parts designed

CNC Turning
produces parts by "turning" rod material and feeding a
cutting tool into the turning material. In CNC turning the cutter
can be fed into the rotating workpiece at a variety of angles and
many tool shapes can be used.
CNC turning provides an economical and fast way to make parts that
are commonly symmetrical about an axis of revolution. Shapes that
can be made using CNC turning include a variety of plain, taper,
contour, fillet and radius profiles plus threaded surfaces. CNC
turning can be combined with CNC milling and Wire EDM as well as
other processes to make more diverse shapes.
Multi-Slide - Multi-slide is
used to produce high volume stamped components and assemblies . It
is a process in which multiple dies or tools are used from multiple
directions on a horizontal plane in order to process the part with
successive stamping operations in a single machine. Providing part
configurations not attainable by traditional metal stamping at a
very fast rate of output.
Multi-slide components running up to 200
strokes per minute generate less scrap than traditional metal
stamping and require shorter tool build lead times ultimately,
reducing both tooling and piece cost, while speeding time to market.
This process uses no chemicals or emit any hazardous by products in
the manufacturing process.
Multi-Slide can also be used to produce wire forms and spring parts or frames.
